This entry is as plain as words can be.
It would help a lot if they added corroborating statements from Lucy Mack Smith's history (e.g., Moroni told Joseph the record was on the "hill of Cumorah 3 miles from his house") and Oliver Cowdery's essays on Church history (e.g., Moroni told Joseph the history was "written and deposited not far from" Joseph's home and it is "a fact that the final battles took place in the mile-wide valley west of Cumorah"), but at least they include D&C 128:20 here.
Even without the other corroborating historical sources, we can all see where the Hill Cumorah is.

2. Hill Cumorah and Palmyra-Manchester Area
Looking northward, this photograph shows the Hill Cumorah in Manchester, New York. The hill appears in the lower right-hand corner of the photograph and runs slightly over halfway to its top. The white monument visible on the north end of the hill honors the angel Moroni and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. The Hill Cumorah is located about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) southeast of the Sacred Grove. Near the top of the photograph is Palmyra Village, 4 miles (6.5 kilometers) distant. The Smith farm and the Sacred Grove are situated at the upper left side of the photograph.
Significant Events: The family of the Prophet Joseph Smith lived in this area at the time of the First Vision (JS—H 1:3). In A.D. 421, Moroni buried a set of gold plates in the Hill Cumorah containing the sacred history of his people (W of M 1:1–11; Morm. 6:6; Moro. 10:1–2). This same Moroni told Joseph Smith where to find the plates on the hill. Moroni delivered them to him in 1827 (D&C 27:5; 128:20; JS—H 1:33–35, 51–54, 59).
Ask the scholars why they censored Cumorah and the 1842 Wentworth Letter and Oliver Cowdery's 1830-31 Mission to the Lamanites in Saints Vol 1 (1815-1846), The Standard of Truth. They also promote the false seer stone in a hat translation method. Sadly all 4 volumes will be translated in over 50 languages. Future generations will NOT know real church history.
ReplyDeleteThe scholars love Lucy Mack Smith and they cited her 128 times in Vol 1, but they deliberately censor what she said about Joseph's severest chastisement before he got the plates in Sep 1827.
Page 36 of Saints Vol 1 states,
“Why are you so late?” his father asked.
“I have had the severest chastisement that I ever
had in my life,” Joseph said.
“Who has been taking you to task?” demanded
his father.
“It was the angel of the Lord,” Joseph replied"
Lucy Mack Smith's history states,
Presently he smiled, and said in a calm tone, "I have taken the severest chastisement that I have ever had in my life."
My husband, supposing that it was from some of the neighbors, was quite angry, and observed, "I would like to know what business anybody has to find fault with you!"
"Stop, father, stop," said Joseph, "it was the angel of the Lord: *****as I passed by the hill of Cumorah, where the plates are,***** the angel met me, and said that I had not been engaged enough in the work of the Lord; that the time had come for the record to be brought forth; and that I must be up and doing, and set myself about the things which God had commanded me to do.
I would hate to be in the scholars shoes on Judgement Day!
